Belmont Homes cool their floors with the Modusat
Evinox are providing Belmont Homes with the Geminox Modusat for heating and cooling at ‘Coast’ their latest development in Hove. The 68 apartments are using the Modusat
to provide heating and hot water, fed from only 400kW of boiler power by using 4 no. 10-100 Geminox boilers. The unique design of the Modusat enables only minimal boiler
power to be used, giving the development a low carbon footprint.
The 4 penthouses are using the heating and cooling version and the other 64 apartments are using the UFH version of the Modusat. The Modusat control system will read
the air temperature, flow temperature and humidity to control the correct flow temperature to the cooling circuit. Each of the penthouses will have its own small air to
water heat pump chiller, which will feed the cooling circuit of the Modusat. The Modusat will either send heating or cooling to the REHAU underfloor pipework to provide
either floor heating or floor cooling. The Modusat room controller has a simple change over function from winter to summer, which activates the cooling circuit.
Floor cooling is widely used in other countries with the Modusat, as the control system perfectly controls the flow temperature to ensure optimum comfort and humidity control.
The floor cooling provides fabric cooling as opposed to air conditioning so there are no drafts or fan noise - the only thing you notice is the cooler inside temperature of the apartment.
